The non-for-profit Transport & Environment organization (EUROPEAN FEDERATION FOR TRANSPORT AND ENVIRONMENT AISBL – association number 44.3.549.326), in abbreviated form T&E, attaches great importance to respecting the right to privacy of the personal data it stores.
You can contact T&E at:

Who are the concerned persons by this statement?
T&E is the controller of the personal data of its members or the representatives of its members, of its contractors or suppliers, of the personal data of job applicants, of the personal data collected on this website, or any website related to T&E’s campaigns, such as Clean Cities Campaign (cleancitiescampaign.org) and Travel Smart Campaign (travelsmartcampaign.org), during exchanges of emails or in the field (such as business cards, publicly available contact information a.o. on websites, personal information collected during events, in the petitions we implement, personal data of the journalists actively involved in the environmental field etc.). We collect and store your data because you are in one of those categories. Please contact us if it is not the case.

What does “personal data” mean?
Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person; an identifiable person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an email.

In principle, access to the information available on or via this website does not require any personal data to be supplied by the user. However, in order to use certain online services, such as contacting us via our contact form or subscribing to our newsletter (called Bulletin), media contact list and email alerts, you may be asked to provide us with personal data such as your first name, last name, company name, email address, country, city, postcode and language. If you register an event for the Clean Cities Streets For Kids initiative, we will also ask for more specific information in relation to your event (e.g.  the event address, and whether you are a parent, school or group).

Why do we collect and store personal data?
T&E processes your personal data based on its legitimate interest to raise awareness on environment matters or to execute a contract such as the association contract or the contract you accept when you ask to receive a service from us. T&E collects and stores only the personal data needed to communicate on its work, for example via monthly newsletters, email alerts and online petitions, communicate with contractors and partners, or work with its employees. Personal data is used for no other reason and never for commercial purposes. Hence, T&E will store personal data for the shortest time possible in accordance with the pursued purposes. For instance, if we receive CVs for a job opportunity, we will delete the CVs right after we find someone, unless candidates ask us to keep their CV. In other cases, we will delete your personal data in principle three years after your last contact with us.

T&E will not use, share, rent or sell your information with anyone except for auditing purposes where we may show attendee lists obtained at events to donors for the sole purpose of verifying that funded events took place. In relation to media contacts, T&E maintains a media contact list that is shared with the environmental NGO EEB (association number 415.814.848).

We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 16. In the case we discover that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@transportenvironment.org so that we will be able to take the necessary actions.

Where do we store personal data, and do we transfer your data to third parties?
No data is stored or transferred outside Europe except in the case where we use a contracted data processor operating under the EU-US or EU-Swiss Privacy Shield Framework. T&E may employ third-party companies and freelancers to collect and store personal data. These service providers include Google, MailChimp, Eventbrite, Campaignion!, DataCrush and Microsoft. We only choose third-party companies and freelancers that are GDPR compliant.

Is personal data safe with us?
We take precautions to protect your information both online and offline. Only employees who need the information to perform specific actions are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers on which we store personally identifiable information are protected and kept in a secure environment.

What rights can you exercise?
Your personal information is fully accessible by contacting T&E at info@transportenvironment.org. You can ask us to transfer your personal data to another association (it is your right of data portability but only if the process of your data is based on a contract); to correct or complete your personal data; to unsubscribe you from our emails; to limit our access to your data or to delete your personal data from our database.

Do we have cookies on our website?
T&E also collects and stores cookies, a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-specifying them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another. T&E uses these cookies to improve the users experience on its website, for example via Google Analytics and DataCrush.
